Worldwide Missions
Peninsula Vineyard is a spiritual community seeking to be mission-engaged.
To that end, we have a developing vision of a Vineyard church-planting movement
in France. To date, there are two (2) Vineyard missionary families in France:
one in Nice and one in Tours. There are 'interested contacts' for: Paris,
Boulogne-sur-Mer, Valence, and Alsace. Still others are in the preparatory
stages of church planting elsewhere in the country. Since the beginning of 2003,
there is a discernible, growing momentum of the Spirit towards the establishment
of more Vineyards in France and the Peninsula Vineyard desires to spearhead
this thrust. Pastor Don Freeman is the church planting coordinator for the French
partnership.
There are seven (7) keys to Vineyard Missions:
1. COMMITMENT TO -
LOCAL CHURCH BASED MISSIONS PRIMARILY THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS
From Scripture and in church history, we find that God's primary instrument
for His mission has been the local church. We believe it is God's desire for
the local church to realize its potential to evangelize and build disciples
from their own locale and around the world. We believe this happens most effectively
when local churches partner, using their resources to fulfill a vision for a
nation or people group. (Acts 2-3; 13-21)
2. COMMITMENT TO -
A KINGDOM THEOLOGY OF MISSIONS
We believe that the heart of missions is the expanding of the kingdom of God
through the words and work of Jesus. God's intention is that his people be a
blessing to others. (Genesis 12:3) We believe that Jesus has given us a mandate
to bring the good news of the kingdom to every nation and people group. (Matthew
4:23; Luke 10:8; Matthew 28:18-20)
3. COMMITMENT TO -
THE CONTEXTUALIZATION OF KINGDOM VALUES BY EACH PEOPLE GROUP
We believe that the gospel of the kingdom has its greatest impact and long-term
effect when it is presented through the language, customs and culture of those
who are its recipients. We are committed to sharing our core Vineyard values
and allowing people to be led of the Holy Spirit in discovering how these core
values should be expressed within their culture. (Acts 17:22-34)
4. COMMITMENT TO -
THE PRIORITY OF DEVELOPING INDIGENOUS CHURCH PLANTING MOVEMENTS
We believe that church planting is the most effective means of evangelism and
discipleship. The main objective of our mission is to develop church planting
movements that will enable the kingdom of God to be proclaimed throughout a
nation.
5. COMMITMENT TO -
THE SPONTANEOUS EXPANSION OF THE CHURCH AS A WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
In the book of Acts, we see a spontaneous planting of local churches through
the mighty power of the Holy Spirit. We trust the Holy Spirit to birth the spontaneous
multiplication of new churches throughout the nations. We seek to participate
in what He is doing by remaining open and dependent upon His leading. (Acts
10-21)
6. COMMITMENT TO -
THE EXPEDITIOUS RELEASE OF NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Just as Barnabas found and encouraged Saul to take his God-ordained role of
leadership, we are committed to discover and to develop the national leaders
that God is drawing to us. Our goal is to turn ministry over to national leadership
as quickly as possible. We want them to increase in leadership as our role decreases.
(Acts 14:23)
7. COMMITMENT TO -
WORK TOGETHER WHILE ENCOURAGING LOCAL CHURCH VISION AND INITIATIVE
The Association of Vineyard Churches - USA is focused on planting churches
in Mexico, Spain, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Each church
is also encouraged to seek the Lord for the nation or people group God may want
them to serve. If you don't have a vision for a specific people, go with someone
who does until God gives you a call for a specific nation.
